EasyGate Elite complements AfterPay HQ at Sydney brewery turned corporate office

The historic Kent Brewery site in Sydney’s Central Park has undergone a remarkable rebirth, blending its rich industrial heritage with cutting-edge technology to create a modern office space fit for the digital age.

Two lanes of EasyGate Elite speedgates coupled with an EasyTouch desk-mounted remote-control unit were chosen by anchor tenant AfterPay, the Australian fintech giant that pioneered the buy now, pay later model, to secure the floors housing its headquarters.

Entrance Control General Manager Michael Bystram said it was an honour to be part of the iconic building’s transformation.

“The Brewery will now serve as a state-of-the-art office space, while continuing to pay homage to its rich heritage. Our speedgates offer the perfect balance of security and design, ensuring that the entrance experience matches the innovative spirit of the building’s tenants.”

Entrance Control speedgates were chosen as a sleek security solution which, with a refined matt black finish and electric blue wing lights, seamlessly blend into the modern-industrial aesthetic of The Brewery. The wing lights provide an intuitive visual cue to guide staff and visitors through the gates upon presentation of an authorised access card, offering a user-friendly entrance experience.

The EasyTouch panel at AfterPay’s front desk allows reception staff to manually control entry for both individual visitors and larger groups, disable or unlock the gates, and manage emergency overrides, as required. This comprehensive control system ensures that the building’s security measures are robust while also providing flexibility and ease of use.

Bystram said the EasyGate Elite speedgates were the most flexible in the Entrance Control range, with glass door panels available at any height between 990mm and 1,800mm and in configurations allowing for single- or dual-wing panel mounting. Optional accessories available to complement the gates included access and edge lights, remote turnstile diagnostics, integrated emergency power backup, bespoke PC monitoring, and more.

“We were hugely impressed with the way Kent Brewery has been completely revamped,” Bystram said.

“The combination of architectural preservation with leading-edge technology and future-facing business tenants ensures that The Brewery is not only a piece of Sydney’s history but also a symbol of its future.”

The heritage building was originally home to Carlton and United Breweries until its closure in 2005 and had been vacant until its meticulous reimagining by investment fund manager IP Generation into a sustainable commercial hub.
